MATT'S JOURNEY TO INDIA
I volunteered at a small environmental organization called Viswadarsanam in the lush jungle of rural Kerala, a state in the far south of India. During my first visit there, I took photos, helped compile marketing materials and designed a brochure to distribute to potential donors and program participants, as well as initiated the process of developing a new website. On my second trip there, I opened the door for the organization to start to receive international funding - no small task for a place whose small local bank account is still managed in a 20-year-old passbook! In addition to my involvement with the organization, I was provided many opportunities to experience some amazing local cultural events and natural habitats.
